This few days ago I had the pleasure of working on a beauty story for a national publication. I'm also excited to share that this will be the first of many that I will be direct creatively. I'm working on the fall issue now. I slowly see God setting me up to do what I truly want. I'm in love with editorial/ runway makeup. I can give a good natural beat, and "instagram beat" all day, but I absolutely love experimenting in editorials. While I find it to be harder, its also freeing. When I'm doing shoots like this I don't feel limited. See the image above, her brows are filled in and barely sculpted. No need...
I've been making this change for quite a while now and I can tell some of my following doesn't get it. If I post a picture of a client or myself beat to the GAWDS my engagement is high. Like 500 + likes per photo. When I do an editorial and I upload pics of a natural look, I get like 50. LOL Its crazy! In my world where social media and makeup is my job, numbers matter! So hopefully over time as I stay true to my path, I'll attract a new group of followers who are interested in this kind of makeup. Its a change we all go through and I'm right in the center of mine. Any who...
Also how crazy is it that...
L' ORÉAL sponsored my photo shoot?! Y'all. Even though I'm getting mixed feedback on this path, I'm so happy. I'm really working the connections I have for the benefit of my artistry and anyone else I work with. The future is looking so bright for me and my editorial career.
Check out the video below to see the behind the scenes footage of my shoot. Enjoy...
Again, to the pros who find themselves on this post, I'm still learning....be easy. Don't worry, I'll catch up.
